Aurora shot water from her hands as her body raced down toward the van roof below her. The water slowed her fall and spilt over the sides of the van, as she landed lightly on its roof.

She crouched low and waited for any signs of being heard as the van began to pull away at some speed. She was only meant to find out what Athena was up to and report the findings back to her father. They'd never been close, always fighting for their father's attention, but as the years flew past the gap between them widened.

Whatever she said, she knew her father wouldn't believe her without evidence. She knew she had to show him what Athena was up to.

Is this what I've become?

Someone who seeks the downfall of her only sister?

Maybe that was why Athena hated her more than anyone she knew. They hadn't sparred in years, after nearly killing each other with blows.

Father had put a stop to that.

She braced against the jolt of the van as it went over a pothole in the ground, which splashed water against her face and jerked her from her thoughts. Making her way toward the back of the van, she looked around but the streets were empty, as people didn't want to face the weather.

Flashing lights and rolling thunder masked her movements as she lowered the top half of her body over the edge of the van and tugged on the handle of the back door. It clicked open and she had to hold it still as the wind tried to yank it from her grip. Lowering her body into the back of the van, she closed the door and quieted her breathing.

"I'm telling you, man," said a gravelly voice in the driver's cabin, "I know you've just started, but this is the best job I've ever had. I've never had so much money in my life. Athena may seem like a bitch, but don't let that fool you. The boss will stand by you, as long as you stand by her. Trust me."

"But what's the bigger picture here?" said a second voice.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, are we starting our own syndicate? Or has she got something else in mind?"

There was nothing said as Aurora moved further into the van, her feet bumping against something on the floor that made her lower her gaze.

She lowered herself to one knee and picked up a white block of powder that had a golden triangle stamped on its front. A memory of the same drug hidden in the safe house they'd raided just a few weeks ago came back to her. The building they had seized was meant to be burnt to the ground, along with everything it contained.

That job had been left to Athena.

Aurora's foot hit a stack of white bricks that fell to the floor as the van took a sharp right turn. She held her breath and looked at the backs of the heads of the men up front. Neither of them turned as the last brick settled on the floor.
