Chapter 15

“Can we talk about sex?” I asked, turning to look at Telaney.

“Oh, God. Yes, please.” She grinned. “Talk to me about sex. And don’t spare the details, girl, because I’m living vicariously here.”

We were hunkered down behind a dumpster in an alleyway, waiting for some action that would hopefully yield a good salvage opportunity. Telaney had texted me that she had a lead on a job. I’d been a little skeptical when she’d texted the location. West Hollywood was pretty much demon-central, and a dragon was rumored to frequent the area. Admittedly demons could be carrying some valuable stuff, but they also weren’t likely to die easy. Plus I was willing to bet they’d rob their own dead, with or without a salvage license. Fighting with another demon over some dude’s pocket change wasn’t my idea of a good salvage opportunity, but it was better than nothing.

I’d left to meet Telaney straight from Bishop’s bed. I’d wanted to stay there all day. I’d wanted to stay there for a few centuries, exploring this new thing between us over, and over, and over again. But sex didn’t pay the electric bills, so here I was.

“Action!” Telaney yanked me farther behind the dumpster as a Hummer turned the corner.

I ducked down low. After a few seconds we peeked our heads up again, to see that the Hummer had kept going and the street was empty once more.

“So? Tell me about this amazing sex you’re having and I’m not. How many times have you both done it?” Telaney wiggled five fingers at me, then slowly raised her other hand and wiggled those fingers as well. “Numbers, girl. Numbers.”

I snorted. “Lots. I’m not exactly keeping track.”

She grinned. “And it’s good? I mean, I’d assume it’s good since you’re still boinking him and you strike me as the sort of girl who takes her orgasms seriously. But he’s an angel and I honestly can’t see them as being good in bed. Or being in bed at all. Sex and angels aren’t two words I ever thought I’d hear together in one sentence.”

“Trust me, it’s good. And I don’t know about other angels, but Bishop is…intense. And creative.” I felt a sizzle of heat rush through me just remembering all we’d done this morning.

Telaney sighed. “Maybe I need to start dating angels. Is there an angel Tinder? Angels-only dot com?”

I imagined Gabriel’s profile on a dating app and shuddered. “I think you need to stick with humans.”

“Hell, I’d settle for a blow-up doll right now,” she grumbled. “Or some decent sex toys. What do you think about our chances to salvage a box of dildos, new in the package?”

“Slim to none.” I squinted at a truck slowly approaching from a few blocks away and tugged Telaney down behind the dumpster once more. “Sex isn’t the problem between Bishop and I.”

She snorted. “Obviously not.”

I frowned, not sure how to explain my fears over the sudden new developments in my relationship with Bishop. “The problem, although it’s
