Felicity didn’t go back to The Devil Man. Believe it or not, she just slept in her own bed in the dorm room. She didn’t even have to cast too many defensive spells. It was clear that Bethany was no longer going to be any trouble to her.

By the morning, Felicity actually felt refreshed. Jane had done an admittedly good job in healing her magical burns. Felicity’s natural magic had done the rest.

By the time she dragged herself to the cafeteria the next morning, she wasn’t injured in the slightest.

Did that mean she was raring to go?

It all depended on what would happen today.

By now, news had spread that Professor Brown was the new principal. As Felicity sat there eating her porridge, she tuned in to every single conversation she could. She had to cast several sophisticated surveillance spells in order to hear and filter all the students’ discussions throughout the massive cafeteria.

It was a good indication of who was shocked – and therefore who had been aligned with the previous principal – and who wasn’t.

Felicity had always been good at remembering faces. Under Lucifer’s tutelage, she’d learned certain spells that made her exceptional at it. So she noted every single person who didn’t react to the news. They would be in Jake’s camp.

Because let’s face it, Professor Brown was nothing more than a puppet.

Though in the past week of being at Broadstone, Felicity hadn’t seen Josephine at breakfast, she did today. Maybe Josephine had always sat in the same seat, drawing as much attention, or maybe she’d only come out of the shadows to catch Felicity’s eye.

It was effective.

Felicity now wanted to fight Josephine more than ever.

Belinda had been nothing. Josephine would be personal.

By the time she made it to history class, all Felicity could think of was the encounter she would no doubt have today. Would it be just as easy as Matthew Styles? Or would Jake throw her something a little harder? How long until he used her against the rest of his competition? How long until she had to fight someone with more blood contracts?

As she thought that, she kept clenching her hand into a fist, relaxing it, then clenching it even harder.

Though Jane had done a good job of healing Felicity’s magical burns, if she continued to screw with her skin like this, she’d need Lucifer himself. Did that mean she relaxed her hand? Hell no.

It was murder knowing that there was literally murder going on at Broadstone and there wasn’t anything she could do about it. While Jake was no doubt the most prominent member of Magnum Optimus, there were other prominent elites at this school. Right now, were they canvassing their own blood contracts?

Felicity hadn’t heard of anyone dying recently, but that didn’t mean anything, did it? There were transfers in and out of Broadstone almost every day. She would be aware if anyone disappeared from her own class, but she simply didn’t have the skills to track all the 2000 students that attended this school.
