I finally manage to calm down and collapse into another armchair, seeing as the one I threw is now broken. I’ll need to repair the fucking pillar too. My temper got the best of me, though I now have the perfect excuse to redecorate the living room.

The beta looks to have calmed down as well. The stench of her fear still lingers in the air, but it’s slowly dissipating, thank fuck. There’s a thin sheen of sweat along her forehead and she sits hunched over, that perfect posture of hers long gone. I didn’t intend to frighten her, but it never hurts to instill fear into them to keep them in line. I find it prevents them from getting any ideas about becoming a permanent pack member, or blatantly turning on us to conspire with a competitor.

Or the police.

Luckily for us, the chief of police is already in our pocket. He’s a bastard with a long list of infractions we won’t hesitate to publicize, should he betray us. Shit, most of the packs in Darva are corrupt and vile—this city is a breeding ground for shitty alphas and their even shitter packs. It’s what makes ruling this place so entertaining. We’re surrounded by crazy bastards, and it’s quite a high knowing we rule them all.

“Where is the omega, Brenton?” I demand through gritted teeth, refusing to look the bastard's way, lest I go for his throat this time.

“In the closet where I mounted her and claimed her.” His voice is one of barely restrained mirth that draws a gasp from the beta, and an internal roar of fury from me. This piece of shit is trying to rile me up again, and fucking hell, it’s working.

I force myself to relax, and stare the beta down to say, “There was an unforeseen incident, and now we are temporarily in... possession of an omega female. A bond—” I cut myself off with a low growl. “Two bonds were formed, and until I can find a way to break them, we are responsible for her care. We don’t have any experience caring for an omega, and we have no desire to change that. That being said...”

I ignore the appalled look on the beta’s face, not the least bit concerned with how she feels about this situation, and continue, “I leave the omega in your care, Tiffany. I want her fed, groomed, given attention, and whatever else you think an omega will need, you are to provide it. If anything seems questionable to you, defer to Mason, and he will involve me when necessary. Is this clear?”

She swallows thickly and nods, hands twisted in the fabric of her pants as she looks anywhere but at me.

“Use my card to stock her room with whatever she desires, so long as it's reasonable.” I flick a hand at her, indicating the card she keeps on her person at all times, as instructed by us when she began her secretarial duties a year ago. “All her food will be charged to the same account.
