Before tallying your total points, be sure to reverse the score (5 = 1, 4 = 2, 3 = 3, 2 = 4, 1 = 5) for the following items: 6, 11, 17, 24, 28, 30, 35, 39, 46. Remember, in reversing the score, high numbers are traded for low and vice versa. Unless you reverse the scores for the items listedâand only for the items listedâyour result will be inaccurate. See the Introduction to this book for a full explanation of reverse scoring.
Tally your points:⢠A score of 201-250 indicates that you are highly sensual. You are very âpresentâ in your environment and very attuned to all kinds of sensory input. You also have a strong aesthetic sense. You are probably a lover who takes your time and relishes the act of love-making as much as you relish other bodily delights. If you are on the very high end of the scale (above 225), you might be someone who needs to rein in your lust for pleasure some of the time, lest you fall prey to overindulgent hedonism.
⢠A score of 165-200 indicates that you have a moderate degree of sensuality. You might be more selectively sensual than someone who scores higher. For example, you might be highly attuned to tactile or visual stimulation, but not have an acute sense of smell. To up your pleasure quotient in life and in love, notice the areas where you are sensual, and allow yourself to experience pleasures related to them.
⢠A score of 164 or below suggests that you are not very sensual. Or perhaps you are simply resistant to giving in to your sensual impulses because they make you feel guilty or uncomfortably exposed. If your pragmatic approach to life is a sore spot between you and your partner, see if you are willing to explore a few indulgences within the context of a safe, loving relationship. Maybe youâve never tried a massage or lit a scented candle. Youâll never know your reaction until you do try.
