HOMEOPATHY
• Arnica – Always the first remedy—and often the only homeopathic remedy needed—for injury, especially sprains, strains, bruises, or overuse. Excellent for minimizing or reducing pain, swelling and bruising, and for speeding recovery in any injury. Also helpful to begin treatment of any painful condition. If you suspect your dog has sustained an injury, or has simply played harder than usual, a single dose of Arnica immediately after the event may prevent soreness.
• Bryonia – For joints that are swollen and hot, and painful when pressure is applied; stiffness. For pain that seems to worsen with movement.
• Calc. carb. – Skeletal problems that are related to calcium deficiency, from either a poor diet or the body’s inability to absorb calcium.
• Calc. fluor. – Skeletal problems in underweight, unhealthy dogs.
• Calc. phos. – Skeletal problems, particularly in young, growing dogs. Promotes healing of fractures.
• Hypericum – For any break in the skin, to ease pain and help prevent infection. Alternate with Arnica for cuts and lacerations. Alternate with Ledum for puncture wounds. Also helpful for injuries or disease that involve the nerves, including injuries to the back, especially where there is pain in the lumbosacral area. Eases pain in areas that are very sensitive, like an injured nail.
• Ledum – Helps heal injuries to the tendons, ligaments, periosteum. (tissue that surrounds the bone). Also, any swelling that is cool. Alternate with Hypericum to heal and prevent infection in puncture wounds. Alternate with Arnica for sprains.
• Rhus tox. – For pain or stiffness that gets better after moving around.
• Ruta – For pain in the lumbosacral area, especially when there is also weakness or pain in the hind limbs.
• Silicea – Helps the body eliminate foreign matter, such as foxtails or imbedded glass or thorns.
• Symphytum – Helps mend broken bones.
