Reaching the Chinese to Reach Europe
Several ministries have arisen in Europe specifically aimed at reaching the vast number of Chinese students and immigrants that have been coming over the last fifteen years or so. Just as China is rising as a superpower with increasing levels of global influence, so too does the Chinese Church have a worldwide calling. Pastor Lee’s own organization, Love China International, has been one of the major instruments for revival among the Chinese communities of Europe. Historically, the Christians of these communities have been very conservative in their theology and style of worship. One of the key elements of Love China International’s ministry has been to introduce these churches to the Holy Spirit and promote spiritual renewal among them, as well as establish strong partnerships between Western and Eastern churches. Since 2002, Pastor Lee has made regular trips into Europe to preach in the Cantonese- and Mandarin-speaking communities, and host the Europe-wide Life Impact Conference for Chinese believers. Out of that first trip alone, three people are now in ministry in different cities in Mainland China, and one has continued to serve God as a missionary to Germany.
Many of those who have been saved or baptized in the Holy Spirit through the Life Impact Conference have gone on to plant churches or lead ministries around the world. This new generation of Chinese pastors and missionaries is going to become instrumental in helping to build an international platform for the Chinese Church to enter fully into worldwide missions, a vision commonly referred to as “Back to Jerusalem”. Most of the newly ordained Chinese Church leaders in Paris for instance have received their calling to ministry through the Life Impact Conference. As God begins to move again powerfully across Europe, there is an opportunity for Western Christians to establish greater connections and relationships with their Chinese brothers and sisters. They provide a vital connection to the amazing work of revival that has been taking place in Mainland China, allowing it to flow out from China to bless Europe and the nations. This is also another “gateway” that God is establishing for the Chinese Church to reach outwards.
Several church leaders who were called by God during Pastor Lee’s first ministry tour in Europe are now operating in Beijing, Shandong, and Shanghai. When he went to visit one of them in Beijing called Brother Bu, Pastor Lee was introduced to an old man by the name of Peter Chen. Peter had been a co-worker of Brother Yun during the revival in Henan province in the 1980s. He had opened his home to use as a Bible college and were seeing many young people trained and released into ministry. On one occasion when Brother Yun had a miraculous escape from a high-security prison in Beijing, Peter and his wife had been interceding for him at home. God revealed to them that Yun had escaped from prison and so they prepared to do what they could to help him. Shortly afterwards, he
