Several pixies flew in and popped tall next to St. Tuppers and slapped him with magical rags that soaked up the spilled beverages. Several of the women rose to help the pixie girl sprawled on the deck. Cynda Jenner shoved her knitting back in her bag but stayed seated, looking as surprised as the others at the event.

St. Tuppers flailed his arms at the pixies “Get away from me with those rags. You’re destroying the evidence. I can’t sue without the evidence.”

They dodged his gestures, popped tiny, and darted about him with only the rags going full size.

Courtney and Suki raced to the pixie server who had slammed into Mrs. Needles. She looked dazed and would probably have a bruise or two. But she sat up, her cheeks and hair going bright pink in embarrassment.

Mrs. Needles stood, rubbing her head. “That giant hairy oaf threw a pixie at me. I could have been crushed.”

Courtney turned from attending the pixie. “No, Lenora. I saw the incident. This girl didn’t pop tall until right before she hit the deck.”

“Well, I never…. The captain shall hear about this.”

“Exactly,” Nadine the skunk said, jumping onto the back of the couch cushion. “My witch will demand a full investigation of this incident.”

Mr. Morosov, in his crisp white uniform, along with another man, probably an officer on the staff, judging by the extra gold stripes on his shoulder epaulets, strode into the scene.

“Any injuries?” the man with the stripes asked.

“Only minor injuries, Hotel Director,” the barista said. He helped the pixie server stand. She was still wobbly.

“Let’s get her to medical,” the hotel director said. He pulled his phone out and ordered a medical team with a wheelchair.

“What about my clothing?” St. Tuppers strode toward the hotel director. “This outfit is the latest from the T3 casual boating line. I paid an outrageous amount for it. I demand to be compensated appropriately.”

Cynda, the wife of Erik Jenner, walked into the aft cafe right then. “That outfit is so last season, Swanson. I told you it was on sale last month when you told me you were cruising with us. Honestly. If you’re going to lie about your wardrobe, at least pay full price.”

She turned, saw me, rolled her eyes, and strode over to sit on one of the couches. She pulled out two fat knitting needles, and wiped them off with a paper napkin someone had left on one of the tables by the couch.

“Well… I… uh…” St. Tuppers stammered. “If you will excuse me, I have a book auction to check in on. The interwebz on this ship better be operational, or you’ll be hearing from my attorney if I miss that purchase because of your shoddy infrastructure.”

Mrs. Needles strode up to the hotel director and poked him in the chest with her stiff finger. “And that server of yours tried to kill me. Popping tall as she smacked me.”

“As I said, Lenora,” Courtney interjected, “the girl didn’t go tall until after she was knocked off course, and AFTER she struck you.
