When Joseff walked into the living room one morning a few days later, he discovered Heul deep in thought as he stared at a letter. "Problem?" the younger brother asked.
"Your sister."
"Which one?"
"Your twin!"
"Ah." He sat down on an armchair and threw his legs over the side. "What did she do? Oh," he added. "I have a date tonight. I won't be home until late."
Heul eyed him intently. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you gone on a date with Lexie Germaine every single night for the last five days?"
Politely, he asked, "Is that a problem?"
"No," Heul muttered as he went back to the letter. He liked Lexie, but her oldest sister haunted his waking days and sleepless nights. Then, too, there was Joseff. Heul had always felt more like a father than a brother. He knew that he had lost Joseff to Lexie. His family was slowly drifting into their own ways.
"So what did Gwyn do now?"
Heul sighed and handed over the letter. "See for yourself. If you read between the lines, you can all but hear her giggling when she wrote it. It's a very nice, very polite letter of resignation. Enforcers has offered her a full time position as a consultant. She and Rayna are going to work as a team."
"Yikes. If they walked into a boardroom together, I'd panic." Joseff could indeed hear his twin's giggles in the letter, and he didn't need to read it to know the contents. He handed it back over. "I guess that means we're without an interior designer for Driven Snow." Casually, he added, "You know, Lexie's sisters own an interior design company, Kingdom Designs. She mentioned they were thinking of finding a construction firm to partner with, to share the burden of the economy."
Heul slowly narrowed his eyes on his baby brother. "You and Gwyn are doing that creepy mental thing again. She mentions the exact same thing in here."
"Probably because she and I talked about it first." He shrugged one shoulder. "She felt guilty about abandoning us. I think we ought to give it a trial run. See what happens. I mean, do you want Gwyn to come back all happy from her honeymoon only to be filled with guilt?"
"Not at all." Heul stared at the letter for a moment. Abruptly he asked, "Does Remy work there now? I know you said Lexie and her sisters were trying to convince her."
"She does indeed. She got fed up with stifling her artistic side. And she wants Nicole to grow up thinking you can chase your dreams, so she decided to chase her own. She joined Kingdom Design and the other six put her in charge." Blithely, he continued, "She's pretty much the same level as you. When Gwyn and I were talking, we were thinking, for the trial run, that we'd see if we can work together on any type of project. We'll just match up brother to sister on the basis of what they do individually, rather than shared.
