5. Lisa Is Found

16th Sept., 2015

More than month and a half has passed in this case, yet we haven’t nailed down the killer. It is always like we are hitting around the bush and missing the main target.

Two days after I had asked Max about Lisa’s information, he came in with the report file. It turned out that Lisa was dead. She had committed suicide due to depression in April, 2011, i.e., in the month following the month of March, 2011, that was mentioned on the page we found in Samuel’s pocket.

Lisa’s case was handled by a police officer, who was now a retired officer.

There were contact details mentioned in the file, so I called him up to get more insight about Lisa’s case.

The retired officer came up to my office the next day. On discussing with him about Lisa’s case I came to know that Lisa had a daughter, who was married and probably lived at the same place where Lisa lived, that was mentioned in the report file. We had the contact details available, so I called at Lisa’s house. Nobody picked up the phone, but I did leave a message in the answering machine. I asked Lisa’s daughter to come and meet me at my office, along with her husband.

Lisa’s daughter and her husband came to my office the next day.

I informed them about Kevin’s son, Samuel’s murder. They seemed to be saddened on hearing this news as they had known Samuel very well.

On asking whether it was possible that Lisa committed suicide due to Kevin, they replied that it was not possible. According to them Lisa already possessed suicidal tendency and that Kevin had in fact been supportive of them after Lisa’s death. They had only good to say about Kevin.

Of all the people I had met so far, only these people were ‘all praises’ for Kevin. This was weird. I became a bit suspicious about them, that they maybe were hiding something from us.

Again I went to Kevin’s house to talk to Kevin, but when I reached there he was not there. It was his mother who had opened the main door. It was she, who informed us that Kevin was not home.

Seeing an opportunity, I asked, “I am sorry if this offends you, but in order to find your grandson’s killer, I must ask you this one question. Just reply in yes or no.

Did Kevin have any affair with Lisa’s daughter?”

To this she nodded her head in a yes.

I did not ask any questions then, just left for my office.

Kevin had not spared Lisa’s daughter. He had affair with both of them. What kind of a man was he!!

On reaching my office I waited for Lisa’s daughter, whom I had called up on my way to office.

When she came, I straight away came to the point.

“Did you and Kevin have an affair? We have been so informed by Kevin’s mother.” I asked.

“NO!!” She immediately reacted to the question. “A false statement does not become a truth just because some old lady said it.
