148 Town Hall, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthen’s Guildhall (Sir Robert Taylor, 1765–77) was originally built, as at Monmouth and Montgomery, with an open ground-floor market, and a tall stuccoed upper floor with three large Venetian windows, each with a central round-headed light. The ground floor was later enclosed and fronted (1860–2) by rusticated Bath stone walls and a wide but shallow porch with paired Tuscan columns. At the same time the stucco was removed from the upper floor and a clock turret added to the hipped roof.
