Chapter 13

I showered and changed into Darren's hoodie and black leggings after seeing how Adrianna was doing.

After putting my hair up, I headed to my closet. Reaching for my white Converse, I put them on and turned to face Adrianna.

After picking her up, I went downstairs.

For her, I need a stroller. This implies I should visit my dad.

Adrianna and I went to the pack house together after I placed her in her basket.

I went to Percy's room by going upstairs and knocking on the door.

"Yeah?" He stopped as he opened the door and fixed his gaze on me. "Oh. You."

Indeed. Me. "Where is dad these days?"

"He hasn't been out of his room since you left."

"Oh. Regards."

I went to my father's room by walking down the corridor and up an additional set of stairs.

I rapped on the door and waited for him to answer.

All I could do was look at him when he did. His beard had grown out, his eyes were bloodshot, and he looked terrible.

Startled, he said, "Ruby." "What do you need?"

"A stroller is necessary for me. You kept them, I know that." I stated.

He nodded slowly and made his way back to his room.

I began to follow, but I stopped myself when I thought about the beating I had received the last time I was here.

I was just around seven years old. I came in here hoping to get some consolation from my dad because I had a horrible dream. However, he ended up being worse than my nightmare.

He jolted me out of my reverie by saying, "Here." and giving me a purple pram.

As I turned to thank him, he abruptly closed the door.

I lingered there for a moment, gazing at the closed door.

I hauled it back to our house and downstairs.

I pushed the stroller into the back of my car after unlocking the door.

I realised I didn't have a seat for Adrianna as I started to put her in.

With a grunt, I ushered her back inside.

"Darren!" I made a call.

"Yeah?" went downstairs on foot.

I said, "I need you to come with me."

I tossed him my keys as he nodded his head.

I went outside to the car and sat in the front seat with her on my lap while he went up to fetch his shoes.

After a short while, Darren emerged.

"Are you set?" he inquired.

As he pulled out of the driveway, I gave a nod.

He unfolded the stroller and gave it to me when we arrived.

Adrianna was placed in it and covered with her small blanket by me.

We visited several stores and purchased a plethora of items, including clothing, shoes, diapers, toys, a baby bag, formula, bottles, binkys, a rocking chair, a car seat, a changing table, and a cot, after spending almost two hours in the mall.

After I was happy, we headed home, and Adrianna and I went upstairs to construct a pillow fort around her. After that, I assisted Darren in carrying everything upstairs to a vacant room.

I said, "I'll get Darius and Hunter." I walked out of the room and called their names when he nodded.
