Place Your Bets

Betting is the foundation upon which gambling games such as Texas Hold'em Poker are based. The rules of betting can at first seem quite complicated, but they become clearer with every round you play. The following summary should help to simplify the rules of betting:

The Blinds

The first player to the left of the dealer puts in the Small Blind, which is equal to ½ the agreed minimum bet.

The next player to his left puts in the Big Blind, which is equal to the full agreed minimum bet. The Small and Large Blinds are put in at the start of every hand, even before cards are dealt, and they serve to provide an amount of money in the Pot before betting commences.
