Chapter Thirty-One

Calliope

“Thank you so much, Luna Calliope!” A young girl bowed her head respectfully at me as she grabbed one of the baskets from my hand.

Roughly a month after the issue regarding the lack of food for the wolves living in the South District was discussed, I took the initiative to personally accompany the next monthly-delivery. The baskets of free groceries - available to all pack members - were usually separated at the kitchen to be picked up by individuals throughout the first week of every month. However, considering the recent misunderstanding, I decided to organize a truck to bring the supplies myself to ensure they would be correctly distributed.

My visit seemed to be taken as an event by the residents, who made sure to come out of their houses to greet me. Everyone eyed me with a mix of respect and curiosity as they lined up to get their supplies. I was helping unload and distribute the food baskets when a familiar face showed up in front of me.

“I appreciate your kindness, Luna Calliope.” The middle-aged woman lowered her head in submission. “I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble. You must be busy with your duties.”

“It’s no problem at all, Mirian.” I smiled warmly at her. “Is this enough for you and your family?”

“It’s more than enough, Luna. Thank you. Please tell the Alpha we are thankful for all that he provides us with.”

“You’re welcome. And I will.” I nodded at her, watching as she disappeared into the crowd.

Twenty minutes later, the truck had been emptied and the Omegas’ refrigerators were full. It warmed my heart to watch everyone wave me goodbye as I turned around to leave. The driver offered me a ride back to the town square, but I actually enjoyed strolling through the grounds of my home. Blood Eclipse had a beautiful territory I could never get enough of - I loved admiring the gardens, the forest, the villages.

I found my unicorn grazing near the central lake, the morning sun rays bathing her pure white coat, conferring an even more magical look to her. She had been roaming freely for the past couple of weeks, and she was now fully comfortable being around werewolves. A shelter had been built right next to the stables so she could have a nice place to sleep and to hide during storms. She hadn’t allowed anyone aside from me and my friends to touch her yet, but she wasn’t frightened by others. It also helped that pack members respected her as much as they did me, and they were content to just observe her exquisite beauty.

When I stepped closer, the creature lifted her head up, neighing as she finally noticed my presence. She came trotting in my direction, and demanded I pet her by adamantly pushing me with her muzzle; it always made me laugh. As I brushed her fur with my fingers, I couldn’t help but take in how much she had grown in such a short amount of time.
