Chapter 10

Oscar’s kisses slowed then, which confused Katie. That was not the reaction she had expected.

But he could not pull himself away completely, so he slowed their energy and helped her settle back down and become aware of the room again.

“No, baby girl, not this way.” He sounded tortured but resolved.

“No?” She whined sexily.

“No,” he said between kisses. “I want more for us.”

Ooo, I like the sound of “us” and “more,” she thought.

Finally, he pulled her back to his chest and held her closely as their bodies adjusted to the sudden loss of passion.

She curled both her arms into her chest and rounded her shoulders so that she was fully encapsulated inside his arms, cocooned against him safely.

She sighed deeply and drifted into a place where thoughts were held at bay and nothing mattered but the restorative experience of just being here.

He stroked her hair and planted gentle kisses on her forehead. They shared the quiet.

Katie felt cherished and wondered how she could have ever misunderstood somebody so fine. Everything about him seemed honorable.

Mangus decided to jump up on the arm of the sofa and say hello just then, which made Katie chuckle, though she stayed tucked where she was.

He always has perfect timing.

“Oh, hello there. Who are you?” Oscar chuckled as Mangus took the greeting for permission to climb up behind him and settle into the space behind Oscar’s shoulders.

“You’re surrounded.” Katie smiled with her eyes still closed.

“I see that,” he laughed again.

She slipped one hand out of her cocoon and reached around behind Oscar to caress Mangus who began to purr on cue.

Oscar took that opportunity to caress Katie’s ass in the same way she petted Mangus, which made them both laugh out loud. Katie began to fake purr, which only made them laugh louder.

With the sexual spell broken but the flirtatiousness still swirling, she leaned back to look him in the eye and said, “Feed me.”

He belly-laughed then. She grinned deliciously and wiggled her hips on his lap, knowing exactly how her statement could be interpreted.
