Leg warmers

These quick and easy leg warmers will keep your ankles warm when dancing or going out on a chilly day.

- a pair of 12 mm straight knitting needles

- 1 ball of light pink T-shirt yarn

- scissors

- yarn needle

1 Cast on 25 stitches onto one needle.

2 Mark the other needle by tying a piece of colored yarn to the end. This will help you keep track of when to work purl stitches.

3 Work in stockinette stitch as follows:Knit the first row, then purl the next row. Continue to alternate between knit and purl rows.

4 Stop when the piece measures 11 in. (28 cm)—about 28 rows, but the exact number will depend on the thickness of your yarn and how tightly you knit.

5 Bind off the stitches and fasten off, leaving a long tail to use when assembling the project.

6 Fold the piece with the right side in and bring the cast-on and bind-off edges together to create a tube.

7 Use the long tail and a yarn needle to sew the edges together.

8 Repeat from step 1 to make a second leg warmer.

Tip:

Choose a thin T-shirt yarn for this project so the leg warmers won’t be too heavy.

Keeping track:

Remember to purl when working stitches from the marked needle to the unmarked needle and knit when working in the opposite direction.

Reversible:

If you sew the seam neatly, these leg warmers are completely reversible.
