CHAPTER SIXTEEN

The reason An’Tellarus had mentioned Kosmarre was evident then. She stiffened at Elluvian’s information, her hands curving slightly as if they would become fists.

“Very well. I forgive your impudence for the moment. Severn, you will have to change.”

Again. “My clothing is at Elluvian’s home.”

“Ah. Elluvian will bring your clothing, but in the meantime, we clearly have clothing we can spare.” Some of which he was now wearing. “My servants in the West March maintain a certain style; perhaps it is best that I dress you.” She lifted her chin; she had never once raised her voice to call for any of those servants. Gestures, like magic, summoned one.

“You will take Severn and see that he is properly attired as a Tellarus servant of note.”

The woman nodded, her hair falling over her shoulders as she bowed to her lord. She then turned in silence, pausing once to look over her shoulder when Severn failed to instantly follow. He carefully gathered the ruined clothing and crossed the platform. Although he now knew where some of the significant buildings were, he hadn’t yet pinpointed Darrowelm, Avonelle, Tellarus, or Danarre. Then again, they were probably trees, and took up as much space as large trees did. He couldn’t test the entry point to Tellarus as he’d intended, which meant the consequences of failure would be much higher.

He followed the servant down the steps.
