“Where did you find them?” asked the Revenant Pallentine.

“They were with the forest-dames,” said Teodor.

“The forest-dames?”

“Yes, somehow they ended up there?” responded Teodor.

“And the Jade Tower? Do they have it? Was he in there?” asked Pallentine.

“Honestly, I don’t know? I didn’t ask.”

If the revenant had eyes to roll, they certainly would have. Instead the undead being shook his head in his bony hands. He then held out his hands and said, “And you did not think to ask?”

“You asked me to find them and I did,” was his response. “But I did offer to transport the bearer and they declined. So I gave them a map to here. At least now you can scry and monitor their progress. And if they do not head here, I will fly back out to change their minds.”

Pallentine sat back seemingly satisfied with that. “Niss will ask me soon about the Jade Tower’s whereabouts. If they leave today how long till they arrive here?”

“They all seem healthy so probably in two days if they stick to the map,” responded Teodor. “What are you going to tell Niss?” asked Teodor.

“She doesn’t need to know you found them just yet and so we shall keep this between us,” responded Pallentine.

“You play a dangerous game my old friend. Please don’t implicate me in what has the potential to become a great feud between you two,” said Teodor.

“You worry too much, Teodor, you always have.”

It was now Teodor’s chance to roll his eyes, and he did. He then said, “I will be out harvesting for a meal. I wager we will have guests soon,” and he turned and walked out of the dark room.

“Make sure you tell our forest vermin to expect guests,” said Pallentine as Teodor departed. He hoped he heard him but didn’t really have a concern. If these interlopers were able to escape Rom-Seti then surely they could handle what lurked in his forests.

Revenant Pallentine was more concerned with how he should handle Revenant Niss and the Jade Tower. If Rom-Seti was in there, Pallentine wanted it for himself. He wanted to gloat, to hold it and to bury it in the deepest, darkest hole he could find! Revenant Niss however, wanted to know if her creation worked but also promised it to her own pupil in the Union of Undead. Even if Pallentine confiscated the Jade Tower, he would never know if Rom-Seti was in there, not unless he broke it open. Could that even be done?

Rom-Seti was especially eager to find out the status of the Jade Tower, for indeed it was Rom-Seti who brought the dark-elves, arch-goblins, orcs and lizard-goblins to ravage his homeland.

“By all the gods, I hate Rom-Seti!” he said aloud.
