Resilience

Commitment and resilience are often used interchangeably but there is a slight difference. Commitment will still exist even if you give up on a plan. This is because you were still committed for the time that you diligently sought the results. However, resilience in this context means that you were able to continue with the same energy, despite various factors that might have threatened your quest.

Factors that might threaten your commitment and thus inhibit your resilience are fatigue, poor results, lack of self-esteem and changes that might make it hard for you to achieve your goal. Being resilient is a state of mind, just as much as it is based on tangible steps linked to the ultimate goal.

In summary, building a strong sense of self-motivation is a facet of emotional intelligence and intrapersonal skills that is woven in the fabric of lifelong learning. Motivated individuals are focused on achieving goals, they tend to be best students or mentors and are aware of the benefits of being open-minded, resilient and they generally have a growth-mindset.
