Two of the main reasons why people give their dogs away are that they haven’t been able to housebreak their dog or the dog is destroying their house. (There are other reasons we will cover later.) Housebreaking and destructive chewing are problems that can be solved very quickly, and at the same time, because these two problems are related to one another. Dog owners will put up with almost anything when it comes to their dogs, except for the two big headaches mentioned above. When it comes to these problematic areas, they can and will lose their patience.

Don’t lose your temper when working with your dog. Don’t show uncertainty. Don’t yell or scream at your dog. Remain calm and clear when teaching him anything, and that includes housebreaking. Think things through, use your common sense. You will make things easier for both of you. He will learn the right things from you, and learn them very fast, and you won’t confuse his learning process.
