‘Kohefiza slum or Idgah Hills Slum’ is a non-notified slum located in ward no. 10, evolved along the Sultaniya road ahead of Lalghati square towards Bhopal district collectorate. The contour levels vary from 523 to 578 m in slum, which indicate steep slopes and hence not suitable for residential purpose as majority of slum dwellings grew on undevelopable steep slope. This slum is spread over 15.7 ha area with around 450 households and accommodated more than 1750 residents. Mother India slum came in existence in 1992, and evolved on government land, reserved for majorly as green-belt (non-developable due to steep slopes) and mix-landuse along the periphery in Bhopal master plan 2005. Majority families are living in the slum from more than 25–30 years and more than 90% dwellings were in kuccha and semi-pucca condition (Fig. 14).
