Chapter 13

FOR ONCE EMMA’S mind went blank. She didn’t know what to say. Couldn’t argue against what he proposed.

Liam tugged her hand and she stumbled toward him. He was right there to catch her in his arms. “Could it be that you’re speechless because I’ve managed to make you stop thinking?”

“I... um...”

He pressed his advantage before she could get her brain working. His lips brushed hers and everything short-circuited. Her mind and every nerve ending in her body fired.

“Mmm... Yeah.” Liam brushed his thumb along her lower lip. “I like you not thinking. Feeling is so much better.”

Liam took Emma’s lips without giving her time to respond or consider what might happen if she gave into him, which she did, enjoying the slide of his lips over hers. When his tongue swept into her mouth, she grabbed the front of his shirt, fisting the soft material with both hands.

He cupped the back of her head and aligned their bodies with a hand at her hip as he pushed her up against the wall of the lighthouse. Dear Lord, then he deepened the kiss, and she lost any lingering will she may have had to resist, because Liam Anderson knew how to kiss a woman slow and deep and long. Her toes actually curled. Honest to goodness curled.

His talented lips moved from her mouth to the line of her jaw then opened on the side of her neck. Her pulse pounded against his tongue. Liam moaned, the sound vibrating against her skin.

Emma clung to his shoulders, struggling to breathe.

“We are a very, very good idea,” he murmured. “If a kiss can make us feel this much, imagine what making love would be like.”

Emma’s knees felt loose, but he kept her upright. He slid his hand over her hip to the back of her leg and lifted it, then put his thigh between hers and found the place where the pressure was building between her legs.

“Liam...” Her breath hitched in the back of her throat, and he smothered her moan with another mind-numbing kiss, all while he moved his thigh against her in a rhythm that matched what his tongue was doing to her mouth. The pressure between her legs intensified, and she strained against him, needing release she knew wouldn’t come.

“Come for me,” Liam said, cupping her breast and dragging a thumb against her sensitive, tight nipple. His pupils were huge and almost the same color as his eyes as he looked at her.

“I... I can’t,” she managed while he continued his assault on her senses.

“Let go. Give me your control.” He squeezed her nipple, and the muscles in her thighs tightened.

His lips covered hers, and she stopped thinking. Just felt. He dragged the strap of her shirt down over her shoulder along with her bra until she felt the warm breeze off the water on her bare skin. He cupped her breast in his hand, taking a moment to stare at her.

It felt so good to have a man look at her like that.
