Chapter 21
The Deal with Gorgons
Saiwa was the hottest place in Nâdorya, but as Trenton Ludlof crossed the boundary separating the gorgon territory from the rest of the realm, he was pleased. Jonet thought he could best the fae general and usurp Ludlofâs position as second in command.
Shithead got what he deserved.
The mongrel queenâs fangs in his throat.
Ubaveil and her guard appeared at his office within minutes of the incident at the Global Committee of Leadersâ summit. The idiots voted to free Nâdoryaâ¦what would they do next? Those stuffy bureaucrats were going to end the human race with all that touchy-feely bullshit. Fae werenât human. They were no better than cattle.
Ubaveil had found him weak and at the bottom of a bottle and offered him a gift. Revenge against the leaders who had compromised his troops and had nearly taken his life. But that was a lifetime ago.
Now, he had a new goal to serve the one true being who would see the humansâthe ones worthy, anywaysâprosper. Ubaveil needed the fae gone. A blemish on her vision of a perfect world. Ludlof couldnât agree more. Unnaturally colored freaks with fangs and clawsâ¦and venom.
Ludlof adjusted his vest, the nerds in the lab assured him it would protect against gorgon scratches. His prosthetic hand was something he hated. A bionic tool that degraded what it meant to call himself human. The nerves in his arm connected to some electronic panel in the hand and it moved as if it was his own, but it wasnât. He could not feel the slippery material of his armor, nor the sweat he wiped from his brow. His true disappointment in the hand would be that he would not feel Mayâs throat crumple beneath it. No matter, he would have the satisfaction of watching her grotesque purple eyes shut.
The gravel path crunched beneath his boots as he ventured deeper into gorgon territory. Disappointment washed over him, for all of the rumors about gorgon ferocity, the slithery bastards had yet to realize there was an armed human on their land. He had no strong desire to face the creatures, the few they had successfully captured over the past decade would haunt even his nightmares.
Serpentine bodiesâno legs, just those hulking tailsâand bare chests. Ludlof had enjoyed more than his share of women over his life, but after seeing monster tits, human breasts would never be the same. Scaly lumps that did not wiggle under their movement. Unnatural.
Then there were those facesâ¦Noseless with thin lips and a mouth teeming with ragged teeth. Their clawed hands would never please any man, only shred his cock off and leave him in a frothing mess as his insides melted.
Gorgons might be ugly bastards, but their fruit was the best in the world. Ludlof reached up to pick a red apple glowing in the sunlight.
âPick it,â a hissing voice said from behind him. âIt will be fresh and the juice will taste like summer wine. Pick it.â
Ludlof smiled and angled his head back. âI came to speak with your leader.
