After lunch, Adelle joined the afternoon craft workshop, her mind set on observing Helen and gathering more information. The lounge buzzed with lively chatter and the scent of freshly brewed tea as passengers settled in, ready to create their penguin stuffies. Adelle chose a seat at a small table across the room from Debbie, Tilly, and Mary Ann, who were already organizing the black, white, and yellow felt. A few minutes later, Helen arrived, her eyes scanning the room before she joined the trio.

To Adelle’s surprise, the craft session turned out to be quite enjoyable. She found herself actively participating with the other women at her table, engaging in light-hearted conversation about their lives. Time flew by, and before she knew it, the workshop was over, and it was time to take in the sail around Cape Horn.

As the room emptied, Adelle made her way over to Debbie and Tilly to find out what they had learned from Helen. As she approached, she noticed a puzzled look on Tilly’s face as she picked up her craft bag and pulled out a small package. Her eyes widened as she unwrapped it and revealed the contents.

Debbie gasped. “The stolen spurs!” She looked at the women in dismay. “The bartender mentioned that the item Troy reported as stolen was a pair of silver spurs.”

Adelle’s heart raced. She glanced around, making sure no one else had noticed. “Don’t let on, Tilly. We need to keep this under wraps until we figure out our next move.”

Adelle’s mind whirred with possibilities. Who had placed the spurs in Tilly’s bag, and why? She needed to stay calm and act normal. They couldn’t afford to raise any suspicions.

She suggested that Tilly and Debbie return the spurs to their cabin for safekeeping before they reconvened later to discuss their plan. The sisters nodded in agreement, heading off together while Adelle made her way to the deck.
