Chapter 45

After a lunch that I thought would never end, it was finally time for us to head to the airport. Though I tried to ignore the fact that I’d snooped through the man’s phone, there was something nagging at the corner of my mind. Something just didn’t seem right now.

I tried to convince myself that it could be any number of reasons why that message was sent.

He could have had a roommate. That would explain the reason he lived in that phat ass house by himself. Or, maybe he was using someone else’s house or house sitting and they were coming back home. Hell, worse case he had a girlfriend who he was clearly in an open relationship with and knew all about me and was ready to come home. There was numerous explanations and none of them seems to put me at ease.

As I hugged him and gave him a kiss goodbye, promising to keep in touch and visit again real soon, I told myself I wasn’t coming back.

What if I was being set up?

For what? I didn’t know.

By who?

Vicky?

I stared out the window, knowing that I needed to do something about this Vicky situation if I was going to be able to move on. I was going to have to let her go. I knew I had to find the bitch and put one in her ass, if I was going to have any type of piece.

I lay my head back against the comfortable, first-class seat. I closed my eyes, thinking of the lengths I’d already went to in order to find Vicky. I’d blown through so much money and wasted so much time, flipping over rocks and rattling cages to no avail. I knew that if I was going to do this again, I needed a different approach. I needed to make sure I didn’t lose myself again. I needed to make sure I didn’t let Vicky consume me again and take over my life.
