Use Your Self-Intelligence
Give yourself a leg up in life. Get smarter by getting fitter.
Exercise provides one of the few actually smart ways to multitask. You think better when you’re in motion. So walk while conducting business on the phone. Consider answering emails on the treadmill. Step away from your desk every hour to do a few squats or dance to a video.
It’s not about losing weight; it’s about working out. Science shows it’s better to be 200 pounds of muscle than a slender reed of ennui. Start exercising!
Build your relationship while building your bods. What better way to bond than to hike together, climb together, or go kayaking? Or try something more intimate. I asked my friend Jack, who’s eighty-nine, spry of mind, and happens to have a girlfriend, whether he was getting enough exercise. He responded, “Absolutely. I’m having a lot of sex.” Good thinking.
Most personal bankruptcies are driven by medical bills. By keeping fit, you will save on health care. And you don’t need to spend money on trainers or gyms to exercise. As author and entrepreneur Jim Rohn once said, “You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you.”
