The Holland class’s combat information centre or ‘operations room’ is situated immediately behind the bridge. It is visually linked to it by a series of glass windows which can be shuttered as the situation requires. This effective combination of bridge and operations room, providing seamless connectivity between ‘driving’ and ‘fighting’ the ship, is particularly useful in improving overall situational awareness. It has been seen in other warships designed with a particular focus on littoral warfare, including the US Navy’s Independence (LCS-2) class.
