I woke up the next morning to find Vinny curled against my side. When I brushed the hair from his eyes, he stirred and kissed my neck.

“Good morning, alpha.” He gave me a sleepy grin. “Did you sleep well?”

“Better than I have in a long time.” I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close. “How could I not sleep well knowing that my Elemental Omega was by my side?”

He placed his hand on my chest. “Are you absolutely sure I’m your omega? Maybe there are a bunch of omegas that can withstand your powers.”

I sat up, propping myself on my elbow, the covers sliding to my waist. I gave him a serious look as I stared into his eyes. “Do you honestly believe there could be others that can withstand the heat and flames from my powers?”

He shrugged. “I really, truly want to believe that I’m your one and only — that I was put on this earth just for you and you the same for me — but it does sound kind of crazy.”

I obviously agreed with him. I’d been doubtful of the situation for most of my life. As my brothers and I grew into our teens, we began to seriously question the idea of Elemental Omegas. But I no longer questioned it. I’d just experienced the ability to let myself go during sex. I’d never been able to do that before. In fact, the one time I did start to lose control, I’d seriously burned the omega I’d been with. I didn’t like to think about it.

I cleared my throat and cocked my head as I continued to stare into his beautiful green eyes. “Before I met you, I would have thought that all of this was complete nonsense.” I paused, unsure of how much to tell him. “Believe me when I say that I’ve never been able to let loose with other omegas. I learned the hard way that my power released during sex wasn’t meant for the normal human.”

“Are you saying I’m not normal?”

"Oh, honey, you're so much more than normal." I gave him my most dashing smile. "But you're unlike others. You're human, but you have the ability to withstand my power. Not only that, but I've never felt what I feel when I touch you. It's like being completely in sync with you in so many ways."

He smiled. “I want to believe you. Obviously, I do have something that protects me, but there may be others…”

“The story always said that there would be but one omega for each of The Defenders.”

His eyes grew large. “You mean your brothers also have mates out there?”

I nodded. “At least we hope so.”

He rolled onto his back. “I feel like I’ve won the lottery.”

I pulled him back to my side. “I know the feeling.” I leaned down and kissed his forehead and snuggled back into the pillows. I could have stayed like that all day, but my phone rang, alerting me that Frost was calling.
