Conclusion

In this chapter, school culture and climate were reviewed within a social justice framework for school psychological practice. The current state of the school culture and climate literature was reviewed, including best practices to improve them. It was argued that best practices are not enough, however, for social justice practice to occur. More intentional work needs to be done. To help guide the intentional work of social justice, a Loving Justice vision of practice was discussed and applied to a case of school bullying. The two basic premises of loving justice are outwardness and transformation, or as grandma used to say, “See others who are in need and help them.” Some lessons are easy to learn yet hard to live out. Whether we are school psychologists in practice or the academy may we all choose to live out our visions for a more just school experience.
