Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Sometimes men take care of their kids, and sometimes women get jobs to support their families.
Right! RBG brought six womenâs rights cases to the Supreme Court, and she won five of them.
So winning those cases helped get rid of laws that discriminated against women.
Exactly! And when the laws changed, peopleâs attitudes changed.
Paddle Boarding?
The other thing that made RBG so successful was that she worked her butt off. Can we use the word butt in a book for kids?
I donât know. If it ends up in the book, weâll know we were allowed to use it.
RBG worked so hard that Marty would have to call her up at work and remind her to come home for dinner. Then, after the kids were asleep, she would work until four oâclock in the morning. Her assistants got used to receiving messages from her in the middle of the night.
She was also famous for not needing much sleep. Sometimes she got just one or two hours a night. She drank a lot of coffee to stay awake.
Did you Google that picture of RBG when she fell asleep during the presidentâs State of the Union speech?
That was hilarious. But she was also famous for being able to concentrate really hard on whatever she was doing. Her college roommate said, âYou could drop a bomb over her head and she wouldnât know it.â
One time, a bunch of people gathered in RBGâs office to give her a birthday cake. She was so focused on the work she was doing that she didnât notice the room was filled with people until they started singing âHappy Birthday.â
