Instead, he added her number to his phone and invited her to the station the next morning via text. She responded within seconds. “See you then.”

Before Dom could pocket his phone, it rang again.

“Detective Flynn.”

“Hi, yeah, is this the same Detective Flynn that came to the Wallace Recovery House?”

“Whose calling?”

“Sorry, yeah, this is Maggie. I’m the Operations Director here. Are you Dominic Flynn?”

“I am.”

“Well, whatever you said to Seth Zigorelli must have set him off.”

“What? Sorry, I don’t follow.”

“He’s run off.”

“Damn it,” Dom said. “Have you called the local police?”

“Yes, but you were the only person to visit him while he was with us.”

“We were college friends. Back before he took the full plunge into criminal conduct.”

“I see. Any idea why he’d run off?”

“None, sorry.”

“Okay, we’ve got him. Poughkeepsie PD said they would reach out to you directly if they need your help. Here’s the intake officer’s phone number.”

“Thanks, Maggie. I’ll see how I can best help.”
