Jackhammer looked down at the destroyed robot, over at Jessica, and then back to the robot. “Are you sure you don’t want to join the EED?”

Jessica gave an exhausted chuckle. “I don’t want to stress my sister out.”

“I don’t think getting attacked by robots will help that,” the massive Fortress Class said with a laugh. He sobered up quickly. “Any idea who sent it after you?”

“Not yet. If I can get a serial number off it and do a part search, I might be able to tell you,” Jessica replied.

“We’ll take care of that, don’t worry,” Maniac said from where she was holding the robot’s head. “If we’ve got someone sending war machines after civilians, the EED needs to know.”

That was one burden Jessica was glad to be rid of. “I appreciate that.”

Maniac gave her a smile. “No problem. I’ve got Peace’s unit en route to collect the necklace for your clients. You’ll have to come in and give a statement about the robot attack. Titania, any idea how it got through your security?”

-Not a damn clue. But believe me, I’m going to find out. And when you find out who sent it, let me know. I’ll have a lawsuit all set and ready to drop on them, Titania replied. Her anger seethed through her mental voice like boiling water.

“Not to mention the assault and attempted kidnapping charge,” Maniac added. She stood and put the robot’s severed head into an evidence bag. “I’m going to have a CSU come in and sweep the whole museum with a fine-tooth comb.”

-I’ll have my people waiting for them. We are already scanning everyone on site to reduce your suspect pool.

Maniac sighed in relief. “That’s good to know, thanks. With how many people are upstairs, I wasn’t sure how we were going to get through all of them in a reasonable amount of time.”

Titania gave Jessica a look before saying, -I don’t think it was someone inside the museum.

“Why not?” Maniac asked, turning her full attention to Titania.

Jessica took the hint and explained. “Earlier, while we were in the outdoor section, I felt someone watching me. Titania tried to find who it was, but the feeling vanished when she started looking. Her powers can cover everyone in the museum at once.”

Maniac nodded. Minor power distortions and the lightning storm in her eyes indicated she was probably using her powers to take notes. “Was this the first time you’ve felt someone watching you?”

“No. The other day I felt it too,” Jessica replied.

“When was this?” Maniac asked.

“It was the day I had to come in to give a witness statement about a criminal crashing into me mid-flight. Jackhammer can tell you,” Jessica explained.

The massive Fortress Class nodded. “It was last Friday. When we brought in the Rat.”

“I remember now. Have you had any recent clients give you any issues?” Maniac asked.

“No, nothing like that,” Jessica replied. Then she remembered the end of her interview with Richard Sellers. “I might have an idea, but it involves my other case.
