Oatlands, built in the early 1800s by a great-grandson of colonial Virginian Robert âKingâ Carter, is a 22-room Greek Revival mansion set in the rolling countryside outside Leesburg. Tours of the house are available, and there are four acres of formal gardens to stroll through as well. Evening weddings in the gardens may be arranged from May through October. Throughout the year, thereâs always something going on, including equestrian events, sheepdog trials, and dog shows. During the Christmas season, the mansion is open on Saturday evenings for candlelight tours (as are many other homes in this section).
