CHAPTER 12

When the blinding golden light disappeared, Charleston was slightly more than shocked that him, beautiful Augusta and precious Owen were standing in the middle of a stone circle. It was beyond weird as there were stone seats with men and women sitting in sterile white robes just frowning at them.

There was a single spare stone seat and the sky was bright white and now Charleston realised that this was Prison Rock because the sky had to be magical in nature and even the air smelt too good to be true with hints of minty, vanilla ice cream and Augusta’s perfume in the air.

If her sensational perfume wasn’t so strongly in the air then Charleston might have believed this place wasn’t living magic but he loved the smell too much for that to be a possibility.

The man in white robes smiled at each of them and Charleston could have sworn that he was looking at the ghost or something of the Crown Prince but the face changed to someone who had clearly lived a rough life.

The man’s face was well-worn but kindly, friendly and he clearly wanted to help them. The man winked at Owen and Charleston realised this was the wizard friend of the Prince.

“Welcome to Prison Rock,” the man said, “and Queen Augusta, a woman like us in more ways than one, I know that the Crown Prince named you queen but he is dead and we now rule,”

Charleston watched as Augusta laughed and studied each and every one of the people sitting on the chairs. He had no idea what she saw when she looked at them but to him, they all just looked like idiots focusing on a war of words when Sacaden was already wanting to come here and kill them all.

“What is this place really?” Augusta asked. “I have read books on magical architecture and forming pocket dimensions but this is remarkable. I guess there is a magical library, artefacts and more in this place,”

Everyone just frowned and some even spat at Augusta.

“I take that as a yes. It makes sense why this is such a threat to Sacaden. This place holds the knowledge, power and people that can stop him from taking Longmano,”

“And we will not allow you to do either!” a woman shouted.

Charleston looked at her. She was a very young and beautiful woman with long blond hair and a black pin of some military rank on her robe.

“Calm down Jacinda,” the wizard friend said.

“I will not,” Jacinda said. “These people are just like Sacaden,”

Charleston laughed. “We are the only hope you have of defeating Sacaden. If you want to die then that’s okay by me, just don’t let your people die as the trolls and more invade your villages,”

Charleston loved it how Augusta gave him a slideway glance.

“These people must be killed immediately,” Jacinda said. “These people are threats to Longmano,”

“Impossible,” another person said.

“Hail Jacinda,” another woman said.

Owen clapped his hands and everyone focused on him. Charleston really hoped Owen knew what he was doing.
