Chapter 29

My weekend went by quickly.

My mother was little help, still in the hospital letting herself recover. She was already several times stronger than me, though, and her stats were still going up. The clans were just that terrifying, and she wasn’t even someone important to the Heros Clan.

Yet when I told her I’d found a demon, all she did was tell me to avoid it and anyone it was interested in.

Going to the market again was a bust besides getting more treated paper and a few more ingredients. However, my visit to the bank went well. I sold twenty Duggarfin Teeth and a few Sloop Leathers along with my bundle of inscriptions.

Interestingly, the inscriptions that were selling the best were low rank lightning ones that were apparently used by the bank and other players to generate electricity. Essentially, they were just buying portable chargers…

What a waste.

The cloaking and illusion ones made perfect sense to me, though. And I also got the point of the ones that provided some comfort. But what was the point in saving electricity? People’s priorities in this age were just so backwards.

I guessed it didn’t matter if that was what they wanted them for. I was mostly interested in the gold they would pay for the inscriptions. Soon I’d find myself with plenty of gold coins for my plans.

I planned to reinvest all of the initial profits into more materials for several cycles until I was satisfied. Most of the coins that I had went right back into the exchange to fund this new venture, along with what I’d gotten from the instance.

Going back into the instance after the weekend, I repeated the cycle for the next two weeks. I stayed inside the instance for a week, and farmed levels and gold coins. Then on the weekend, I offloaded all of my inscriptions into the market before sucking up all of the materials that presented themselves.

Finishing out another week inside the instance, I sat back at a desk amid the broken pillars of the completed boss room, working on my inscriptions while Bobby and Rodger finished the second half of the sloops.

My level had grown quickly to 25, and then slowed down on the climb to 30. But I was determined to see if there was a class skill at 30 that would be worthwhile before taking the blood that Simone had prepared for me.

I could tell that she was getting antsy about the situation with Rick, and so was I. I had gotten materials that would allow her to send me a message with a talisman, even if I was inside an instance.
