He drove her to Lucien’s house in Milton Heights, left her there with an awkward goodbye before he was careening out of town. She distracted herself with dinner and kneading dough, left to rise just as Lucien came home, scanning the room and lighting up at the sight of her. He looked tired but revved up, a tall, sexy man with rumpled hair, and her mouth watered as the horny feeling returned, confirming just how much she was affected by him. Then earlier’s scenario crashed, reminding her of how that had affected her, too, and the guilt was too much as she approached him and the words roared.

“I kissed Gael. Or he kissed me. Because a cop was approaching us and there was no other way to explain why we were under the file room’s window. It was the customer. He’s in custody. Gael helped me out. Then he kissed me because we had to cover it up.”

He froze at first before understanding dawned.

“Or there were other ways, but the kiss was the first thing that crossed his mind,” he mused.

There was no accusation in his tone, only speculation.

“I’m sorry. I know we’re not in a relationship, but I still shouldn’t have kissed him back.”

“How did he do it?”

The question caught her off guard, but the guilt waylaid it until she was spilling it out.

“It was just a kiss. Lips, no tongue. Short, and…”She swallowed. “Just a kiss.”

“But you enjoyed it.”

It wasn’t a question. That he was stalking her began to sink in, his hands unbuttoning his dress shirt, his muscles flexing as he removed it. The tattoos glistened against his skin, a myriad of beauty she couldn’t stop staring at until he had backed her against the counter. Once there, it only took one lift to sit her there, his hips urging her to spread her legs so he could stand in between them. He rubbed her belly, a gentle touch that fluttered her heart before those thumbs circled the tips of her heavy, aching breasts. He started over her loose shirt, then skimmed his hands under so he could touch her bare.

“Your nipples always become visible under your clothes when you’re near him,” he continued, hushed tones matching the darkening of his orbs. “You unconsciously rub yourself against his side when you’re agitated, but I should have known it was because you were turned on.”

She gasped, the words fleeting in, a memory of the moments she had done so culminating into one bigger piece that had her staring at him.

“You knew.” Then, “Before I did.”

“You were fighting it. Or ignoring it. I could tell it wreaked havoc in your system.” His gray eyes held an unholy gleam. “So I helped nudge out your release.”

“So all those times in the storeroom…”

“Perhaps I couldn’t help myself, either.” He closed a mouth over her arched neck, sucking madly, turning her wild in an instant. “We always tried not to make a sound in the storeroom, but sometimes someone else did.”

“What…?” Another discovery punched her in the gut, and she bit her lip when his fingers dug inside her entrance.
