I’m still hugging my pillow, is what I think. As soon as I open my eyes, I see reality as it is. Almost all the pillows are scattered over the floor, even the pillow I was hugging at night. I look at what I’m hugging—more like who I’m hugging. Augustine fucking Elias.

My head is resting on the left side of his chest, and my hand is on the right. I have also managed to put one of my legs, bent, on his. And his left arm is wrapped around my waist, holding it.

How the fuck did this happen? No.

I jump away, and it wakes him up.

He rubs his face with his hands and looks at me with his eyes barely open, confused. “Good morning?” he says in a very deep, sleepy voice.

“Not good. Bad morning!”

He sits up straight. “And why is that?”

“Do you see the pillows? Do you see where you woke up? I woke up there too. We broke our deal.”

He nods at me, indicating that he heard me. “We didn’t exactly break our deal. No one got on the other person’s side. We ended up where the pillows were. Therefore, deal unbroken. All good.”

“Not good enough!” I get out of his bed and leave his room.

I enter the bathroom and sit on the toilet with the toilet seat down. I’m so glad he didn’t see us wrapped around each other. That would have been way too awkward. It sure as hell startled me.

But I wonder about the pillows. There is no way we made all of them fall on the floor with our movements alone, even though I know I move a lot. It just seems impossible.

How did they all end up there?
