CHAPTER 18

Miserable. That’s how I was feeling.

The look on my Alison’s face to blurt that out was like a stab in the stomach.

“Noah.” Jeffrey called.

I turned around. He looked serious.

“What happened to you? That was not the way to talk to a woman.”

I sighed loudly. I was hoping he would believe my lie.

“Her attitude upset me. She should’ve told me about her plan, it would be a good step towards gaining my trust back.”

“I have to remind you that it was Ann’s plan, not your wife’s. Everything happened so fast and it was just last night. Ann had a vision of Alison taking something that would’ve caused I have no idea what...and she rushed to her house.”

“What did she see?” I asked; my throat closed.

“Your wife taking overdue sleeping pills.”

“What!!! Why didn’t anyone tell me about this? She is my wife...”

My voice vanished and I was breathing rapidly at the scary image in my head.

Jeffrey, realizing this put a hand over my shoulder to calm me down.

“Calm down, nothing happened. Ann got there on time. She didn’t tell you because you weren’t home and you didn’t take you cellphone. Where were you by the way?”

“I...I couldn’t sleep and went to drive a bit.”

I didn’t want to tell him that in reality, every day I would go to the church she gave birth in. I went there to think.

Had she done this on purpose or was in an accident? She had always been so distracted. This uncertainty killed me.

“Come on, let’s go get some dinner, everyone is waiting.” He told my calmly.

We went in and he went to look for Ann in the kitchen. I saw Ashley looking through the window very quietly and Thomas was hugging her by the waist, he looked at her anxiously.

It was the first time in all these years that they looked so serious and worried. I knew the reason behind it and it must be tough on them knowing they could never get pregnant and have their own offspring.

After dinner I would play piano to apologize since that was the best way pf expressing myself. I turned around and there was my Alison, admiring the piano.

It was my wedding gift from her; she had found it in an auction and had it fixed for me. Did she miss hearing me play?

I was at the perfect distance to watch her without being seen. Those pants she was wearing looked extremely sexy on her. I wanted to grab her and lock ourselves in our bedroom for three days.

I felt the heat building up inside of me. I wanted to go to her and tell her the truth, but I couldn’t, not now. Not until the lawyer has all the legal documents ready, and to be able to act against that damn Daniel.

“Noah, can I talk to you for a minute?” Ann asked.

Ah! Her voice sounded upset.

I looked at her carefully; she frowned and had a funny upset devil on her face.

I nodded and I followed her to the library.
