Talk to her in a soothing voice and try to help her calm down while you administer the medications.

Your method of administering medicine to your rabbit will depend on the form of the medication. Here are tips on how to give a variety of medications:

Liquid medication: You can put liquids in a syringe (without the needle) and place it in the space between the incisors and the molars on the side of the mouth. Slowly inject the liquid, letting your bunny swallow it. Don’t put the rabbit on her back because she may inhale the medication into her lungs if you do that.

Eyedrops or ointment: You can pull down the lower lid of the eye and place the drops or ointment in the pocket between the eyeball and the lid. When the rabbit closes her eye, the medication spreads around the surface of the eyeball. Be careful not to touch the eye with the applicator.

Eardrops: Simply place the medication into the rabbit’s ears and then gently massage the base of the ear to get it worked down into the ear canal. Expect plenty of ear-shaking and scratching. (Having something cold and wet running down your ear canal feels weird!) Be sympathetic toward your bunny and be sure to help her wipe her face clean if the ear medication musses her fur.
