IN A FOG FROM LACK of sleep, she could barely put one foot in front of the other. Touching Marcus also made walking a challenge, as their hips bumped together with each step. Being snuggled under his arm had Sharon’s nerve endings tingling. She felt small zings at each spot their bodies touched. Her forehead, where he’d kissed her, pulsed to the beat of her heart. Was this attraction caused by lack of sleep? No one else had sent her hormones into overdrive like this. Even Jameson’s most passionate kisses hadn’t felt as good as the innocent one Marcus gave her.

She drew in a deep breath, trying to capture Marcus’ unique smell. Piney musk with a hint of citrus. Maybe she’d ask him about his aftershave and buy herself a bottle to remember him by once they’d rescue her grams and he was back to his life. There’s no way a guy like him could be interested in a woman like me. Yep. Gotta be overtired.

Sharon had given him the directions to her grandmother’s suite before they left the office. She didn’t recall any of the walk, but suddenly, they were in front of the door. She punched in the code. The light above the handle showed green as Sharon shoved open the door.

“No keycard?” He held the door as they stepped into the room. “How many people know the code to this one? I don’t want to take a chance on someone getting in here tonight. We still don’t know why your grams was kidnapped. The ransom could be a ruse.”

Sharon placed her hand on the wall to steady herself as she pulled away from Marcus’ hard body. Shifting her shoulders back, she realized he was going to head back to his room and leave her all alone.

“You can stay here tonight...if it’d make you feel better.” She watched his face. “I know I would.”

He pursed his lips then nodded. “I’ll take the sofa. I’m not pushing you out of the bed.”

Sharon strolled farther into the room then spread her hands wide. “There are three bedrooms in the suite. I’ll stay in my grams’, and you can stay in my parents.” She swayed as she pointed to the room he could stay in.

Marcus reached over and placed his hands on her hips, pulling her close to him. “Whoa. Let’s get you in bed.” He was close enough his breath brushed over her cheek.

“Mmmm...” Sharon mumbled before collapsing into his arms.
