Resistive braking mode offers another type of electrical braking. In the case of a higher braking action is required, a lower braking value of braking resistor is chosen. As lower braking resistor causes a rise in armature current, hence higher braking torque can be generated resulting a drop in motor speed as shown in Fig. 26. Resistive braking mode is able to extend the electrical braking before mechanical brake takes over.
