Line drawings: Line drawings are drawings, usually portraits, made with a single line. It’s become a popular piece of decor and can be a fun way to mix something trendy with something personal—maybe you try your hand at a line drawing of your cat or favorite human? Search for “line drawings” on Pinterest or Etsy to get the inspiration going. Use a blank canvas and black paint with a fine-tip paint brush to create a piece ready to be displayed on your wall.

Vacation or event framing: Collecting three, four, or more memory-evoking pieces from one event, like a birthday or road trip, and framing them all together can create instant interest and give you something to look at lovingly. Maybe you just got back from a road trip to Sedona and you have a hiking trail map, a postcard you never sent, and a receipt from a gas station with a funny name. Frame them all together to tell the story of your trip on a wall.

Grid of instant-print photos: Polaroid, Fujifilm, and other instant-print photo options have made a comeback recently and having the only copy of a photo feels so rare and special. Dedicate a whole roll of these photos to a particular time of your life or a specific event, and then you can easily buy a photo frame and mat of whatever size you want, arrange the photos on the mat, and hold each one in place with a single drop of glue. Then just place the glass and the mat back into the frame and hang it up.
