Night vision and thermal scopes

A ll the scopes we have discussed so far are focused on shooting during daylight hours, but in some states and jurisdictions you can shoot at night.

Night hunting however drives a different set of decisions on the usual scope choices you can make.

Night vision scopes

Night vision scopes are electronically enhanced to enable a shooter to see a target in near-total darkness with the aid of an infrared (IR) illuminator. IR amplifies the light to a point where it’s useful for the shooter to aim and shoot the target. The target doesn’t look the same as it would in daylight and is monochromatic, but it’s usually good enough for shooting.

There are a range of technologies and generations of night vision equipment at many price points from manufacturers such as EOTech, ATN, Bushnell, ITT, Zeiss and more.
