Seven Strategy Hints and Tips for Texas HoldâEm
The preceding chapters on Texas HoldâEm have included many hints about strategy, in brief descriptions as they applied to specific situations and circumstances. This chapter addresses a few extra hints and tips about strategy for this great game. There are seven simple items that together constitute some of the best and easiest strategy advice for becoming a profitable and winning poker player at Texas HoldâEm in the low and middle limits. Understanding what these tips represent and how to use them will help you in all Texas HoldâEm games, but it will help you most in the low- and middle-limit range games. In the higher-limit games, and in pot-limit and no-limit games, these strategy recommendations also apply but in those limits your opposition will be equally as sophisticated and also know them and how to play contrary to them. Although it is not always the case that high-limit, pot-limit, or no-limit players are more knowledgeable and more sophisticated, among these players there will be a far greater number of players who are capable of altering their play to fit the circumstances extremely well. Such players will know how to exploit each and every circumstance, including those offered in these seven hints. They will be able to recognize any player trying to play in accordance with some of these hints and suggestions, and find ways of overcoming them. Nevertheless, these are extraordinarily helpful recommendations that will assist you significantly in becoming a consistently profitable player at Texas HoldâEm. Knowing them will also help you to become one of those knowledgeable players with the ability to recognize other players trying to use plays inherent in the skills exhibited by players who have learned these hints and tips for strategy play in Texas HoldâEm, but have not yet learned how to hide their knowledge. I present them here in the order of importance, as I see them.
