“Oh yes, with her own hands,” said Bertie. “Take a look.”

The visitor stepped inside. The moment she did, Bertie shut the door behind her and leaned against it.

“HEY!” cried the visitor.

“What are you doing?” asked Darren.

“Just keep her busy for a few minutes while I warn Miss Boot she’s here,” whispered Bertie.

“How do we do that?” panicked Eugene.

“I don’t know, show her the sick room,” said Bertie.

He hurried off, ignoring the loud complaints coming from the toilets. He hoped Miss Boot would be grateful for helping her win. If anyone ought to get a medal it was him!
