Persephone opened the door, her eyes red and blood shot.

“Persy, you aren’t supposed to be here.”

“I don’t care. My heart is broken. Pluto is cheating on me.” Persephone held the door open for Athena to enter. The entry was a lavish mix of polished white marble and silver, accented with silk drapes and tapestries.

Athena pulled Persephone down with her onto the purple silk settee. “He’s what?”

“One of the souls. She’s been there a long time, but last week he started spending hours upon hours with her. He’s even skipped meals to be with her.”

“There has got to be another explanation. Have you tried talking to him?”

Tears filled her eyes. “I tried, but he said he didn’t have time.“

“Then make him listen.”

“No. When he wants to listen, he knows where to find me.”

Athena leaned away from Persephone. “Are you serious? You’re making it hell on everyone because you don’t want to make an effort to talk to your husband?”

She burst into tears. “I’m not trying to.”

“Athena! You should be ashamed of yourself for making your sister cry.”

“I’m the one who should be ashamed? I have blisters because of you and your meddling.”

“And my sister needs to put on her big girl panties and stop being a twit.”

Persephone burst into a fresh flood of tears.

“Demeter, you can’t keep coddling her. Her tantrum is going to end up killing us all.”

“We can’t die, we’re gods.”

“If the humans die so do we.”

“That is not true. Now leave.”

“Come on dear,” She escorted Persephone out of the room.
