CHAPTER EIGHT
- PIPER -
I wouldâve liked to say I jumped his bones the second we got somewhere private. But I became distracted by the manor he lived in. It was like a historic society showroom. âIs none of this yours?â
âNo,â Finch said, âI got rid of most of my things when I moved in.â
âThatâs a dangerous game,â I said.
From the outside, this place looked large, old, and stuffy. Appearances were misleading since the inside was full of stuff even more extreme, and there was enough of it that the place seemed small. They did not lay the space out for best use but rather angled it towards people passing by. There was not a speck of dust, but nothing was naturally piled up as if Finch lived here.
âHow is free housing a risk?â
I turned to him, and he looked clueless about such things. Selfless to a fault. âI donât mean that part. More so, making your whole life dedicated to work. If you donât get re-elected, youâll have less than you started with.â
He frowned, and I mirrored the expression instantly. This was his night to shine. We were having fun. This could still be fixed. I pushed him back with a passionate kiss, and he winced as we bumped into a table.
His gasp was a pleasing surprise that he turned into a nip at my lip as if to make us even. His hands roamed over my clothes, and I desperately wanted to feel his fingers on my skin.
âWeâre going to be black and blue by morning,â I warned.
âGood. It will add to your existing color.â
He pulled me deeper into the manor. It was dark without candles, and we continued to collide into various pieces of furniture as if it was all included on the tour.
âDamn,â Finch groaned against my mouth. His word was laced with another string of pain and coiled desire.
The combination made me not pay attention to our surroundings either. This front room was an obstacle course when moving blindly, and if we didnât fall at least onto a couch soon, I might just fuck him on the floor. It was all rather funny, and I fought back my amusement to keep my lips on his beautifully tanned skin. With our hands laced, he directed me upstairs to where I prayed was a bedroom.
We left a trail of clothes after we passed under a doorway. I tugged off his shirt before Finch hopped out of his shoes, and I couldnât stop myself from smirking. I wanted to tease more out using my tongue, not only for words, but to explore the hot skin I just uncovered. But his hand caught under my chin, lifted it, and stole my breath away. It was not tight enough to add pain, but I paused to remember to breathe.
âDo you find my eagerness funny?â he asked.
âAbout as much as you find mine.â I pulled him closer to feel every line of his body, his erection pressed into my leg. âThis better be your bedroom.
