WHISTLING, Cam made his way to his car. Jeff had responded nicely. There was a romantic soul buried under that drive to succeed. He was determined to break down the wall Jeff had erected to protect himself after Brad had hurt him. Cam had just pulled out onto the Strip when a shift in the atmosphere of the car warned of a visitor.

“Thanks for the warning this time,” Cam said as Morpheus appeared next to him in the passenger seat.

“Well, if I remember correctly, you did threaten to stick your foot up my ass if I startled you again.” Mo rolled his eyes. Problem was, he wasn’t sure if Cam was serious or not. The image humans had of Cupid didn’t live up to the real, live god.

“Yeah? Speaking of sticking things up your ass—”

Mo leaned his head back against the seat. Trying to get the last word with Cam was pointless. “Left myself open for that, didn’t I?”

“How are things going with that special human? Making any headway?”

“Oh, Cam, I don’t know how to attract his attention in real life.”

“You haven’t tried to catch his eye at all?” Cam asked, surprised.

Mo raised his head and looked at Cam like he was nuts. “What if I did, then what? I have no clue how to act around humans.”

“Have you entered his dreams?”

“Yes, but….”

“What’s the problem?” Cam asked.

“I don’t know if I can….” Mo blushed, the tip of his ears turning pink first. “Um, handle what he’s into in real life.”

“Oh boy, that blush alone has my imagination running wild. Of course you know that makes me really, really want to ask just what exactly he’s into. But whatever it is interests you?”

“Oh”—Morpheus replied with a breathy quality to his voice—“yeah.”

“Huh, it must be something really good.” Cam laughed as Mo blushed deeper. “Care to share?”

“Aw man, no, I do not ‘care to share’. Jeez, this is embarrassing.”

“I’m having fun,” Cam said cheerfully. “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“It doesn’t bother you to see this guy making love to another in his dreams? I’d have a huge problem with that.”

“Well, the funny thing is, all his dream lovers have light hair that could pass for gray and blue eyes.”

Cam let out a sharp bark of laughter. “Good one. You may be spending too much time around me, Mo. I think I may be corrupting you.”

“That’s a bad thing? Where are we going, anyway?”

“I have some arrows I need to shoot.” Cam grinned. “Time for Cupid to get to work. Whatcha gonna do?”

“Go do my job, I guess. Let me know when something turns up, okay?”

“You got a cell?”

“Yeah, I do.”

“Good, let’s trade numbers.” Cam parked the car and programmed his number into Mo’s phone. “There you go.”

“Thanks Cam. I’ll talk to you later.” Mo disappeared as suddenly as he appeared.
