Chapter 33

A cold wave washed over Jon and sucked him somewhere dark. It was so dark he couldn’t even see his own hands, and his life was slipping away faster than air from a damaged oxygen tank.

F-k this!

Growling, Jon pulled out a spirit potion out and emptied it into his mouth. The cold liquid washed through him and gave him enough energy to cast a Healing Space on himself. Thank God, it was able to keep up with the rate his life was dropping and kept it from falling below 50.

“Conjure Light.”

A ball of light floated above his palm, letting him take in the mammoth figure sprawled nearby.

F-k! F-k! F-k!

A huge black dragon, taller than a skyscraper—twice the size of Ninji—was pulling him toward it.

Sweat broke out on his neck. The dead-eyed dragon had a mouth that could swallow hundreds of him at a time, and it was open, waiting for him.

“Soul. I want so—” A weak voice echoed from the dragon’s mouth.

System: Warning. Soul Devour has been cast on you. Every second, you lose 1% of your soul. Once the soul damage reaches 100%, you will die and be locked out of the game for 120 days game time.

Could it get any worse? Where would he go if he got locked out of the game?

As his soul was sipped away, his pain intensified. Now he knew how others felt when his vine sucked their soul. God, it hurt.

Salty tears rolled down his cheeks. He didn’t want to cry, but the pain was too intense to bear. Even his Pain Attunement didn’t help him.

No this wouldn’t work. He had to stop it.

Gulping another spirit potion, he activated Earth Mend and slipped inside the ground, hoping for a breather.

However, his soul continued slipping away from him, and as there was no opening below him he ended up shooting back into the empty space, only to land a few feet away from the dragon.

The black eyes as big as his whole body blinked at him. They weren’t lifeless anymore. His soul seemed to have put some life in them.

Soul Damage: 49%

Jon’s heart slumped in his chest. The dragon lived on the soul energy it sucked from him, and if this continued, it would suck him dry in no time. Goddamn. His lockdown would be unavoidable.

His only option was to slip inside the God’s Garden.

Zoom! He vanished from that unknown space and reappeared in the God’s Garden.

A beautiful woman in tattered clothes sat next to the Spring of Polarization. With her eyes closed and rays of sunlight shining across her bright face, she looked like a painting.

“Miraha?” Jon padded forward. It was so good to see a familiar face after so much pain and the constant fear of permanent death.

“Filthy human, why do you have God Shenron’s garden?” The weak voice he had heard echoed inside the God’s Garden.

The voice pushed his heart down, pressuring it and making him lose his breath.

System: Warning, you have been infected with Dragon’s Roar. You take 100 damage per second for the next 10 seconds.
