Fortunately, getting to the British Museum really did only take two shakes of a lamb’s tail—no traffic in that direction. Sky earned a “my friends call me Teddy” as well, but he called her Miss Sky instead of m’lady. She apologized for telling bobby #2 about the situation, but what if I’d been kidnapped? Teddy said she’d done exactly the right thing. Then he gave us some pointers on his favorite “bits” in the museum and said the Wallace Collection was his favorite in all of London; he hoped we’d love it too. When he asked if we were going to take in a show (which I think meant go see a play at the theater?), we told him about how we were all going to the Globe in the afternoon.

He went quiet for a moment, then, clearing his voice a few times, said, “You’ll never catch a cab at that time of day. All the public schools will be letting out, and the place is mad with kids being picked up. Tell you what, I’ll plan to be right up front of the Marlington at one o’clock sharp—not double-parked, mind you—and drive you all over myself.” He let out a deep chortling laugh.

“Deal!” Sky agreed.

“Deal,” I tapped as well. “Thank you!” Teddy swung up to the museum, swung me out of the cab, and with a “Cheers,” gave a salute and a promise to see us at one.
